10 years ago I was planning my wedding - September (the Saturday after 9-11) Sh1t, that means it's nearly 10 years since That Day.

Anyway - I was driving an Alfa Spider - looked great, drove dull, went wrong a lot.

And the future Mrs H drove a Polo G40. Now there's a car I'd buy back tomorrow...

(PS - sorry I've been away a while)

10 years ago I was driving this to work -excuse the poor quality as only pic I can find of it (wrote it off in spectacular fashion in the wet - nearly wrote me off too  but it was immensely fun while it lasted!)

and when I got there I drove one of these (ok this is a modern one but you get the idea!)

This was ours in VW Dealers carpark the day we p/x'd against a new Golf Gti, one of the best little devices we've ever had. Squeezed 140mph out of it once

OK so realised I passed my test started driving 10 years ago in fact, and bought this, my first car. I paid 300 quid for it, added a metro turbo, lowered it and then abandoned it in my friends garden a year later when I left for uni.

Now in the very capable hands of Charlie, who has made it a lot more presentable, although it was still the bset VW I ever owned.

I was making the transition from software into education and was on the cusp of buying my first Porsche....a 914 ! 8)
Dreaming of driving a pre-A 356, actually commuting in a Cayman and for the weekend, a 911 'thing', with a Carrera 3 engine ( we think).

I was planning a wedding for April. Wish I'd spent the money on something else now as it was never meant to be. We went our seperate ways after a year or so.

The honeymoon was good. I drove my beloved Mk1 Golf GTI to Florence (via the Nurburgring :P ). My first proper road trip.

I was doing much the same as now but the newer water-cooled models were still in main dealer domain.

My daily drive was a 1991 Skoda 136 Rapid RIC Coupe ,lowered by 4",Spax adjustable shocks, -ve camber front hubs, Cat removed and modded exhaust. It shocked many 911 owners with it's amazing handling/performance and has to be the best fun car I have ever owned.
Sadly it was written off 29th Dec 2000 when a car pulled out in front of me -the insurance settlement was £340 as it had a full tank of petrol !
