engine lid release mechanism

Post by stevesprite »

Can anyone tell me what is the best release mechanism to use for an engine lid. I used a golf one for the front bonnet and this seems to work fine, but it would be too big for the engine lid. :? :?

Don't know i'm afraid, but let me know if a photo of the lock area of my engine compartment would help

Thanks Simon

That would be a help. Unfortunately the Pilgrim Build Manual (???) does not indicate what type of mechanism to use.

Steve
What catches did you use in the end? I have a similarly helpful build manual!

I have not actually fitted a locking mechanism yet. I am having a bit of a nightmare trying to get the doors lined up, so at the moment the engine lid has gone further down my list of things to do. I have however found the one that I will probably use. It is a bearclaw type of catch. You can find them on the NF Auto website. use the link below.

I will probably use the same type of mechanism for the doors, if I ever get them to fit!

Door and boot catches

Post by 356 »

Hi steve

why don't you just ring Pilgrim up and ask them what catchs they use ,

They made it look so easy on dream machine when fiiting the doors

All the best with the build of your car

The guy I spoke to was a bit vague and said that he could not remember what they used but thought it might be off a sierra !
