Whilst I can't see a Targa Florio round the Isle of Wight or a Bristol - London -
Glasgow triangle as a modern day Millie Milia some sprints / hillclimbs on

closed public roads would be appealing.

Actually, this has been on the books for a while, and the MSA have been pressing the Govt to permit road closures in GB, as we have here in NI and in IoM and Channel Islands.

If done correctly and properly promoted with local authorities and community groups, you could get some great events. Certainly hillclimbs and sprints are very achievable.
