Some new parts arrive!

The brand new S cam...

Some shiny new pistons...

A new piston, along with rings and pins...

Image

The pistons are then ceramic coated to act as a heat barrier to help isolate the piston from the heat of the combustion chamber...

The gearbox was rebuilt by Mike Bainbridge.

I managed to source a pair of 61mm output flanges from the USA...

Image

61mm output flanges are rarer than hen's teeth, but they allow me to fit a new old stock ZF Limited Slip Diff...

Image

An RSR style lightened flywheel is being fitted when the engine and gearbox go back together...

A few days later she's ready for collection! :)

These photos were taken about 3 weeks ago now and I've since completed the running in over the first 1000 miles and she's had her first service and oil change (actually the fifth oil change, as several were performed during the tuning and bedding in of the engine).

I'm off up to Bob Watson tomorrow for the final tune and rolling road session and then I can really have some fun driving her! :)

Great job Alan.
What a relief to get back a space in the workshop, looking forward to the pictures of the shell that Barry has rebuilt in paint.

No guesses where I was this weekend...

Image

I took the car to Bob in order to have her tuned and tested on a rolling road following running in and the first service...

Image

Sitting on the rolling road ready for the final power run...

Image

And the results...

Image

It's the top two plots we're interested in. The top one is the torque and the next one down is the power.

217 bhp and 248 Nm of torque - from only 3000 rpm!!! Very happy! :)
