I bought this beauty about a year ago via Max at Revival cars. It was in need of some cosmetic TLC but was fundamentally sound. I have the RAC/FIA papers and it did compete in some historic rallies in the nineties. Engine is not original but a very early '65 2.0 rebuilt to FIA spec by Tuthill. Used now as a road car and great to drive. Fitted the side scripts a few weeks back, not too difficult but needed some patience! Getting the sunroof to work has been a bit of a challnge. Also fitted lumition ignition which has improved running performance quite a bit.
Seats are repro Recaro (to replace the old BMW units). New carpets courtesy of Max, Fuchs refurbed and she is now looking more like an early SWB 911 should.
Now to enjoy a great english summer!

Can I ask what make the repro Recaros are?

Max at Revival cars originally sourced the seats for my 912 a couple of years back. When I sold the 912 (to buy the S) I took out the seats and fitted them to the S. I did initially make contact with an Italian supplier, (www.Deser.it) , but when cost of seats plus transport plus Euro exchange rate was factored in it made more sense to try here in UK.
I can't track in my files where Max finally got them here in UK, he is away at the moment I believe, but if you contact him (maxlevell@aol.com) I am sure he can advise you.
It has been hard work but well worth the effort. Trouble is there are always jobs needing to be done. The speedo has just packed up. Not a big deal as the rev counter tells me all I need to know. Just need to be careful around the Gatsos!

Thanks for the info Alan. The Deser model Esse looks like the 911 seat, but if you do find out any more that would be interesting.

You might try www.jdo1.com to repair your speedo, he did a recalibration of mine with a very fast turn around. Can do full repairs too.

A couple of shots of my 1969 model 911E on track at Goodwood earlier this month. Seats are custom built BF Torino Rallye buckets repacing the original black vinyl slippy ones that had reclining seat backs....these would self recline under hard acceleration at the chicane pictured !!

At last, after much time searching for a suitable restoration project my newly acquired 1965 911's arrived in the UK from a lifetime in the US. Early indications show it's 99% complete, just a few minor bits and pieces needed. Now the hard work starts on the restoration...
