Well, i finally got to the garage and had a good look at the date stamps.
It looks to me like all four are from 1970, rather than 1967 as claimed.

The date on the 7" rears looks like this:

That looks pretty much the same as the picture posted by Nick, so June 1970?

What is the 44 by the way - it that the offset?

Cheers

Thanks Nige

Sorry to pursue this issue here, but I really have to get it right. When I click on the "Share" button above the picture on Photobucket, this is what I see:

<a href="http://s427.photobucket.com/albums/pp35 ... C03583.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp35 ... C03583.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I simply took http as my starting point, and the .jpg as the end and bookended with the Img tags.

I'd really appreciate knowing just where I'm going astray.

Cheers

Just to clarify what the old boys have been saying ;)

When in Photobucket hover your mouse above the thumbnail of the picture you want to post and a little box will appear. Copy the IMG code in the bottom box and paste it straight into your message.

All the formatting is already done for you.

Yup! I was working with computers way back in the mid eighties and built websites for some years.

Thanks very much guys. I'm still not sure I understand WHY - but I'll keep this example for next time I want to post something and use it as a template. For me, computers are fine for word processing and for reading DDK - anything else is a total mystery.

But thank for trying to explain. And thanks to all who have helped unravel the details of my wheels. Whether '67 or '70 - I'm still pretty rapt!!

Just as a matter of interest, I don't suppose the 7s will run on my 67 911S - no flared/rolled arches? If I opted for 205 instead of 215, maybe - or not? The car came with deep sixes all round, and I have decided that I don't really want to go back to 4.5s. The profile would be 60?

Cheers

The 7R was designed to go on the back of your car, from which the 911R was developed. You will need 7mm spacers, and check the clearance of the tyre to the suspension components on the inside. Tyre recommendations are difficult as each manufacturer's tyres have slightly different dimensions for each size. Alan.UK, PB911, (both LWB) and Julian (SWB) here on DDK have 7Rs on the back of their cars, so it would be worth asking them what tyres they are running.

Thanks Nick. Sorry, but in my northern Japan isolation here, I am really starved for information - other than what I can get from the web.

All the pictures I see on the web of 911Rs have slightly flared wheel arches. Mine have absolutely NONE. Just the original straight guards.

Will the 7" wheels (with 7mm spacers) still fit under the original guards?

I'd like to think about using the wheels ultimately on something a bit more "off the wall", but in the meantime would be interested in trying them on the current 911S. Just don't want to do anything to change its originality.

As noted earlier, I am running deep sixes all round now, so the fronts will be just a straight tyre swap to keep the paint matching. Just concerned about fitting the 7s under the totally non-flared rear guards.

Cheers

Thanks again Nick. That's the visual reassurance I needed. I do like the look. Not the final use for the wheels, but I'll get some enjoyment from them in the meantime. So now all I need to do is find a pair of 7mm spacers locally.

Really appreciate the advice from all respondants. Thanks DDK.

Cheers
