I've been doing lots of small things to my car over the year so thought I would share now they are done

Overall colour scheme



Rear end reworked with new colour scheme, new rear lightboxes and lenses, lightweight engine lid, lightweight bumper, new rubbers, exhaust cleaned and painted



Much lower ride height, replaced round mirrors with small rectangular ones

Refurbished the paint on the wheels, lots of work done on suspension you can't see, Michelin XWX tires fitted



Front end reworked with new colour scheme, new front light boxes and lenses, new chrome horn grills, stick on badge, lightweight bonnet, lightweight bumper, new bonnet and bumper rubbers, refurbished wipers and cold air intake

I have also refurbished a second set of 6" Fuchs and fitted them with TB5 tires for track days.

Winter jobs are to get rid of the electric windows and sort out the door cards. Other than that I am very pleased with the car. It's driving beautifully.

All external as internals re-built a couple of years ago. I think this is the full list

Change shroud for clear/amber one.
Air takeoffs blanked.
Replaced the tinware around the sides with matching fiberglass.
Cleaned out engine passageways whilst shroud off (assorted fluff, leaves, etc).
Clean all the mag bits (case, chain housings, etc).
Rocker covers, fan and fan housing media blasted.
MFI thermostat removed and blanked (car has headers so no heat exchangers).
MFI fuel cutoff solenoid removed and blanked.
New injectors.
MFI retimed.
Spare throttle bodies and stacks fitted. New gaskets.
Spare distributor fitted (problem with advance on original) and timed.
New foam air-filters.
Manual cold-start solenoid mod.
All surfaces and rubbers inside the engine compartment cleaned.
Sound proofing removed.
All wiring tidied (that velcro stuff is great).
Oil catch tank.
Adjust all linkages to spec (will go to B.W. for final setup up)

I now fully understand the externals of the engine in a way I didn't when I started. So has been very useful as well as rewarding.

Cool, the only thing I would consider is repainting the exhaust box in black satin heat paint as it would blend better with the new rear bumper.

Hello Ian, your car looks amazing, I love it.

What`s the yellow tape on the wheel? A racing thing?

The muffler would look good in black, it would follow through nicely from the engine lid but beware, I sprayed mine with heat proof paint, guarenteed to withstand the surface temperature of the Sun.... people who new better told me not to do it... I didn`t listen... and three weeks later it began to peel of.

Ended up stripping the whole thing back to the stainless steel underneath.

Looking very 'stealth'.

Am interested in how you did the engine 'in situ' as I would like to do the same over winter. Didn't realise you could remove the time etc. Did you have to drop the engine at all ?

Have you put some 'black out' film on the sunroof to continue the black theme all over

Last question - how did you refinish the wheels, as I need to do the same, and they look very smart.

What`s the yellow tape on the wheel? A racing thing?

It's super hi-tech green and yellow striped electrical tape

A relic from the original owner of the wheel. I guess useful to see where the wheel is. Had it 5 years and never taken it off. The white stripes on the rev counter were also done and actually are useful for keeping car in the right rev band.

All done with the engine in situ. No need to drop the engine. I removed the engine lid which makes working much easier and removed the exhaust and heat exchangers which allows you to get at everything underneath. Rear wheels on some planks to raise enough to crawl underneath.

Rags in any holes, such as inlet and injector holes, incase you drop bits. Magnetic retriever also very useful. I used a digital camera to record everything as I took it apart as it makes it so much easier when you put it back together (eg. alternator wiring). Make sure you set the engine to number 1 TDC before taking the distributor out if you do otherwise it's a lot tricker to refit

Some bits were fiddly but ended up much easier than I thought.

Last question - how did you refinish the wheels, as I need to do the same, and they look very smart.

Paint was very faded on them but anodised finish was still OK so masked up with that special bendy masking tape and repainted out of a can. Good enough until I can afford a proper job. If your anodised finish has gone you probably don't have any choice but a full refurb. There's a few on here that do the full refurb and also Chris at GCR uses Biagio who is fairly local.

I'm getting where you are coming from on that. Something to think about.

Looks great! Love the narrowbody combined with black hood etc. A true hotrod! To complete the look I would advise (as said before) paint the exhaust black, or replacing it with the exhaust on the Singer car and then paint it black.... Lower it 1 inch, redo the wheels in satin black....

Heck, I should do this myself!

Hi Iain, just found this thread. Your car looks absolutely stunning! I would be interested to know where you got your clip on foam air filters from, and what the price was? Thinking of fitting them to my 2.7RS engine to replace the cumbersome plastic unit. Thanks. Tim
