Don't tempt him.. he's already yakking on about a spyder.. or maybe a 356 cabrio... a faimly car you know, room for the kids and dog... afterall don't give him more ideas like a 74 IROC rep or maybe something laong rally car lines like a Safari rep (he needs the clearance on ' them rural roads in Surrey')...Lightweight_911 wrote:So, now you've completed the car to this stage you'll be looking to sell it & start on a new project ?....
Looks great - how about a side-on shot ?

its now close on 2 years since the car was finished, in which time there has been a bit of tweaking but also CLM08 and Wales 08 and in 36 hours the start of C2C 09
first thing was to figure out the aluminium side cills, which actually were not so difficult....real ones are either nla or just plain daft money, so I bought a standard pair and worked them to the profile I needed. I think this was the best route as minor adjustments were made to the lengths and shape so they fit perfectly
soon after had a trip up to bob's, car made 190 bhp on the first run, and in fact the mfi pump probably does need a re-build, but after the man worked his magic it was up to 210 bhp, just running nicely rich ....pretty good I reckon for an engine that had been unused for 5 years and all I did was clean and detail it........probably will have that done over winter.......
after about 12 months I finally had the wheels done, which means a big thanks to Alan UK who did a great job of stripping, polishing and anodising, with me choosing to mask and spray which was straight forward assuming a bit of patience
(they are the original wheels, 7's and 8's date stamped october 73 and november 74)

both well worth the effort as it makes all the difference
I also went for an early style L registration plate, the initials have no significance, I just wanted the number 1 and letter L and this took my fancy, pictures are from the May meeting we had up at Duxford
car is gorgeous (to me that is), love every minute of ownership, and am now seriously looking forward to the next project.....
see some of you soon
regards
Jonathan

thanks guys for the kind words
car worked just fine over the c2c weekend, but as I grounded out so much its on axle stands right now and I'm going to raise the front 10mm
current angle is close to 2 degrees, which is too much, the 10mm should bring it more like 1.5 degrees
richirich
if you'd like a bigger file, you more than welcome, send me your address, I'll email it over

Good scheme JP....
I'd try to raise it a bit more than 10mm tho'...watching your spoiler sniff out every bump and you diligently try to avoid every one over the weekend was painful....
More ride height at the front would ease your mind and allow you to really enjoy every drive....
Mike's (210hp) car appeared to sit far flatter than yours although I don't think the measuring stick was ever deployed...and he didn't mention grounding at the time...
Hohum...still a stonkingly beautiful car....

what tyres are you running up front as they look pretty low profile ?
I have 195/65 on 6" fuchs on the front of mine + a low ride height ... I was travelling pretty quickly over the C2C route on Saturday & the only time I ground out was on the road from Alston to Middleton where my tank always hits the ground
Even when I physically took off after passing a couple of DDK'ers I had no probs with the car grounding out.
