2 LITRE TYPE 4 EMISSIONS ISSUE

Post by Der Fudgemeister »

OK so this concerns my 912E BUT ......... :?

Fudge still uses her factory BOSCH AFC Injection. Last year the MOT emmissions were 1.5% CO and 820ppm HC. This year they were 4.15%CO with 1120ppm HC
What gives? Could it be the oil as last year i used Morris's 30W SAE while this year its been Duckhams Classic 20/50. Timing, etc, etc are all ok.

All comments very much appreciated.

"I thank you" said in an Arthur Askey like manner :glasses9:

I'd be looking at the ignition side of things before contemplating an oil change. Was the engine fully up to temp, was it running on its warm up cycle, plug gaps, valve clearances, vac-line condition, etc.

Eureka :P

I've replaced the 'ex Morris Marina' Intermotor coil and replaced the NGK BP7ES plugs with hotter BP6ES plugs and now Fudge has more get up n GO :)

And fuel economy has improved too as Fudge is now getting 300 miles on half a tankful {33mpg} too  *

*Crusing on motorways at 75mph otherwise 26.7mpg just tooling around.
