KS on here used to own one, just be careful if you PM him he's a little strange in a kind of 'comfy' way

I have thought about that too. Try http://www.porsche-diesel-classic.de/ and http://www.porsche-diesel.com/links.aspx as a couple of starting points.
Did a bit of surfing and found www.porschetractors.com that had this photo of the AP 108:

Air cooled Diesel - amazing... I liked this one because I think I could just about sneak it 'round the back of the house without someone noticing...

...It depends what you plan to do with it ...
I looked at getting one last year
It was a pretty clever design ...1 .2 ,3 and 4 cylinder blocks with the same standard size of P&C for spares for the range ...they just ramp up the horsepower with extra cylinders
I looked pretty seriously at getting one of the higher HP ones.

If you just want the Porsche tractor kudos then the junior 1 cyl is perfect.
If you need any power or plan to do some work with it then std or super is probably better. The Master is rarer and seem to command a higher price and dont appear ofter.
The Porsche tractors were an evolution of a green coloured tractor ...I think it was caled an "Algaier" or something similar ...thats another option as they sometimes come up for sale too.

I eventually bought an aircooled tractor ...but it was a later one with 4WD and Italian :(
Cheers

Peter Bradley owns a whole collection of Porsche Tractors and has now opened a private museum at his place nr Sheffield which also includes a (porsche)engine from a helicoptor, a fire engine, a one off tractor which Porsche built for the Brazilian coffee bean farms.

I run a Porsche Junior (Single Cylinder) with a 5ft cut Rotary Mower to slash grass but it will pretty much go through anything up to 6ft high and 1" in Dia

However the Junior is not as good my Diesel Engined Grey Fergi (now sold) - It is more fun though and has a lot more kudos

I also have a 3 ft Flail Mower for Hedge Trimming BUT it really is on the limit of the Junior both in terms of power and weight

If you really want a Porsche Tractor to do heavy work then Higs is correct, you need a Standard or a Super - Forget the Major, Very Big and now Very Expensive

You need to speak to John Hearn Chelmsford) - super honest and will know what is about and at what things are worth - he has also been involved in a number of total re-builds and also has access to spares

porsche tractors

thanks for all the information. I basically want a little tractor for our small pony paddocks. To run a topper, harrow etc, a loader would be nice but i dont think they came with loaders. plus you need a fair buit of power for a decent loader.
I thought a junior with 12hp would not be enough and i saw a lovely orange AP22 on ebay last week that did not sell with 22hp which i thought be more appropriate. However it did look concours and it would be a shame for me to trash it in a muddy field. I have also been offered a 219 which has even more power but is quite tatty.
I am also considering a massey 35 which is quite a pretty little tractor and is 8 years newer and is easier to use apparently. I just have to weigh up what i want aqnd how much i want to spend.

What a great game of top trumps this could turn out to be!

Anyone got one of these in their back garden?

Thinking of changing my username to Captain Tumbleweed, what do you guys think?

Is it my southern sense of humour?

:drunken:

as test of wether you have an odd sense of humour ..... which of these 2 TV shows do you find funny ? :

Ricky Jervais , The Office

or

Peter Kay's Pheonix Nights

If your answer is The Office then you are wrong & you have no sense of humour ;)

Everyone knows this is proper humour :)

It is working order but needs a resto.

Yep ...they are getting towards 356 prices now

Well I did find the office funny, but cant watch it now James. The outakes show from phoenix nights and max and paddy is the funniest thing I have ever seen on tv.

Anyway, I digress - back to tractors.
