yo yo yo...
Hassad my Lindseys have 7mm spacers and the fins machined down to clear the 930 calipers and are stillvery tight
The 17s look much smaller if you rsr finish them
ps I love that tank your fabbing sorry but I will definatley copy this idea at some point this year

Love the finish on those wheels. You are welcome to copy my tank ( wait and see if its a success though)

I put the 16's on yesterday I personally love the look Interestingly didnt gain as much clearance as I thought but still beneficial.

I'll post a snap later .. the purple centre will have to go I think the RSR finish or raw alloy will be my final choice.

I dont want to post any more pictures of my mongrel on your thread but if you go and look at my thread on IB there is a picture of the car outsde Bob Watsons on the 17s
In my opinion they dont look oversize for the car,ride height,rsr wheel finish or tyre profile I dont know but they dont look out of place and they dont stand out as a 17".

Panic over 15's all clear my brakes now so thanks for all the advice.

here's the homebrew long range tank all set up ready to tack weld, check then finally fit.I've fitted flow and return tubes through the filler tube dipping down into the tank too. Also the acrylic headlamp covers courtesy of lightweight 911.
(yes the tie straps are temporary pending me finding some elegant little rubber straps. :( )

A little update.

Whilst I should have beendoing a couple of jobs for Alan uk I got diverted so...

took the box apart :shock:

and fitted the welded long range tank section to check if it would really work 8)

I got the tank cap from Karman and the fin and locking bit from shambly some years ago I had forgotten I had it :oops:

Really must work faster...

the tank will be tig welded together, but first I have to prep the section from the old tank. I intend to blast all the surfaces clean to ensure a quality weld it will then be chem cleaned and e coated. I will epoxy coat the outside then "texture" paint it with 3m stuff before finally painting it grey. I don't think sealing will be any kind of issue although a gravity pressure ydraulic check would be worthwhile after final welding just to pick up any glaring problems.

I repared an oil tank using a very similiar process with no problems.

Andy.

I have had something similar done except kept original filler neck and fuel feeds from the bottom of the tank. Tank was TIG welded same as you are doing. The tank was pressure tested after it was completed to make sure there were no leaks. No sealer was required inside.

Couldn't resist making this mirror stand off. It might make the Durant a bit more useful ( or not ) but I saw an old racer with one and loved it. Shame the mirror has gone "loose" on the adjuster I'll have to take it off and sort that out later.

This will be one heck of a car!! Incidentally, what gearbox parts are you after? Some of the 924 turbo gearbox parts are similar to the 915 box....one could pick up the latter for relative peanuts.
