Hi Andrew,
Do you happen to know if the 911 shift rod coupling to gearbox (Part No. 90142424100) will fit a sideshift 914? The 914 part # is 914424214 which seems suspiciously similar!
If you think it will fit how snug a fit is the ball cup bushing in yours? Mine just seems a little lose, it's not waggling around uncontrollably but could do with being a snugger fit.
Cheers
Jon

Hi Jon,
the 911 coupling on here is different to the 914 one. Can't absolutely remember how but I think it is the length. I think the 914 one is longer but not 100% sure. Maybe you can compare your with the picture on here. That's how I ended up with this one. My engine/box was being transported on the trailer when the car was built in 2007 and the coupling was left on the gearbox. Funny enough when they got to where they were going the metal part had gone and just left the inner bushing part on the ball joint. Someone told me to use a 911 one so I bought this one only to find it was different.
If your 914 one is a loose fit on the bushing then it is probably the bushing that is worn. When I fitted new bushings throughout the shift linkage for my car the bushing was a tight fit in the coupling and I fitted it with some grease. I used a Weltmeister item from the US which is apparently an uprated material compared to std. You can see it on the link

You also see these ones or alternatives on US ebay quite often.

I suspect the coupling because I renewed all the bushes last year and the new one was just a loose as the old one.
Perhaps I will try a Weltmeister one.
Thanks for the advice.

US spec Sealed beam headlights and polyurethane front suspension bushes sold to Dave Ski. Many thanks.
Items removed from original parts listing.
If anyone fancies any parts and wants them taking to Classics at the Castle then let me know.
I'm also after the following parts if anyone wants a swap.
- Early 914 fuel expansion tank (with as many of the tube/connector/ fitting bits as possible - this is the small metal tank that surrounds the fuel filler tray on 3 sides)
- 914 Front strut top mounting plate (doesn't matter about condition of rubber mounting but metal plate and 3 threaded holes must be perfect)
- 914 Rear shock absorber top rubber cap ('top hat' type cover in boot compartment)
