Another ST Project starts !!
This is a project of mine which has been progressing steadily for the last few months - and is due home to me in the next couple of weeks - so I think it's about time to share it here.
As a regular visitor to RS911 , to visit Mark , I had become quite used to seeing this 1967 S parked up , but never really given it much thought - not the most appealing looking car
The car had been imported from the States some time ago by another DDK'er , and had the arches installed over there.
As I say , I had always dismissed it as a pile of scrap , but Mark assured me that under the skin - this was a remarkably well preserved car.
On closer inspection - this proved to be the case - all the metal on the shell is totally original - matching numbers stamped into both doors and headlamp bowls ..
After several cups of coffee , a decision was made , and a deal was struck - Mark would strip the bodywork to bare metal , prime and paint - and the rest was down to me.
As the work has progressed - this is the kind of thing we found - not bad for a 40 year old door and sill
Updates to come soon .......

Next phase of the body prep invlved welding up the filler flap ............
Fitting the fibreglass rear bumper .............
You can see in the last picture , the worst of the body repairs that was was needed - the rear corner of the parcel shelf and rear screen surround - new steel was welded in here.
Next - the bonnet was modified to accept the cenrte fill tank ...
With the body straight - it was time for primer ............
And now the good bit - the paint goes on ...
Can anyone guess what the colour scheme is going to be ??

OK - I've been rumbled on two fronts here - this is going to be a 911 Hot Rod , with more than a passing nod to the Larrousse 1970 Tour de France winning ST.oliveR wrote:It's SWB Mike....Mike wrote:could it involve red stripes and the word Kremer by any chance
I know as a SWB it is not strictly correct - but there are a few very nice 911R recreations on LWB cars - so I'm just reversing the process
Anyway this post brings progress up to date - I'll let the pictures do the talking - you would not believe the time it takes to mask up this design (twice) Hats off to Mark for this - he certainly has a good eye for a curve !!
