Need help again on sending photo's!

Post by roy mawbey »

If anyone can help me here I would be grateful!!

I have been trying to send some pictures received from Mike Smith. I put his photos on "Photobucket" and then took the URL from each one and sent them with a forwarding message to the forum.

Two of the photos were displayed in the forum page but not the others?

I have the photobucket box come up with the text "The image has been moved or deleted" The pictures are still in my Photobucket album so whats happening? Any ideas?

Thanks
Roy

The two displayed were because I cleaned up the code. Once in photobucket simply copy the IMG code box and paste it in your message on ddk, voilà!

It seems to be citical that you copy the Photobucket URL exactly. The one on you posted has a small c instead of a big C in 55Cab-GettingThere.jpg

Yes guys its now all becoming clearer. Thanks again for all your help on this.I can now re-size photos and instead of copying manually the URL code and getting it obviously wrong in places will try to master copy and paste procedures.

It gets harder the older you get!!!

How right you are to write things down!! I do it all the time and then lose the piece of paper carefully filed somewhere I thought I would never forget.

I know realised its got to be a book ( like your black one) these are better than pieces of paper 6 months on.

I shortly will post as a test a re-sized photo that I copied and pasted to the DDK site. I hope it works!

Its a bit like pass words. You end up with so many you forget which one goes where. I must say "Porsche" and all configurations regarding the car have been used by myself. They always say never write it down. Hell, these people must have better a memory than me!!!!

Okay guys I am experimenting a little here might work might not!

In the first picture I am sending that I reduced in size on www.shrinkpictures.com it shows one of grandsons holding the door handle on my 356. He's almost saying let me in I want a drive!

The second picture is one of Mike Smiths I had the trouble with being to large file wise. Now I reduced this on the Photobucket site where my pictures are held. I decided after clicking "resize" in the bar above the picture to try various sizes. I chose in the end "large 640x480 which shows as 250267 bytes and dimension 640x425 pixel on the box that displays the full URL.

If the photobucket resizing works its I suppose easier because its all on one site to modify.

Now regarding the copying and pasting of the URL to our IMG position this has me flummoxed if you understand me! Sure I can follow the instruction of highlighting the URL with the mouse and right clicking to get the menu but what do I choose?? If for example I am ready now to put a photo onto this message and I need to paste from the photobucket site what do I do? ( Should the URL be highlighted and sent to my documents? So that after I type IMG the text can be copied from there?)

A step by step guide for an idiot would be appreciated. I have noticed also I have not been careful enough in typing exactly the URL's I can understand if a some text is in capitals it has to be exactly that!

I don't know what I have done wrong. I was careful I think in copying the URL.

Have to try again when I stop pulling what's left of my hair out

Roy, the easiest way to copy the url you need is to move your cursor over the img line in photobucket under the image you want, hit the right mouse button and move the pointer to 'copy' - then go back to DDK in your new message box and right click your mouse again and this time choose paste - (or ctrl + V) - that way you never have to copy, the pooter does it for you :)

wayne.

the easiest way to post a picture from Flickr is the open the picture to the size you want then right click on the picture and copy the pictures address. then come to ddk and paste that address code between Image

at the moment you are copying the main link address to the flickr page (in your tool bar)

heres the photo you were trying to post?
Image

if you click on "quote" on top right of my post. it will open a reply box and this will show you what i have done to post your picture...

heres the same picture when i copied the address from viewing it as a bigger picture on your flickr site

Roy - when you highlight the picture URL :

!) Right click & copy the URL
2) When posting the picture into your message on DDK, click on the 'Img' tag, right click immediately after the [img] then right click/paste the URL into your message
3) Click on 'Img*' tag again to complete the link to your picture

If you've done it correctly you'll end up with something like:

James, Wayne,Helen and Andy,

I will now read again each note make some notes and try again! You were correct Andy those were the photos I correctly reduced in size but failed to send.

I will get there I guess in the end. Of course you can't exactly practice without everyone seeing what a dummy you are but that's life once a dummy.....

Cheers once again one and all for your patience.

Roy - you can practise without anyone else seeing the results :

When you've typed your message, click on 'preview' rather than 'submit' - You (& only you) will then see what the message will look like.

If it's OK then click on 'submit' - if it's not OK then amend your post accordingly & click 'preview' again & repeat until it's correct.
