Started trimming today
Hi guys. I know I've said it before but this thread really needs relocating ???
anyway heres some snaps of latest progress.
Alan and I were chatting about R / RS trims heres my interpretation. With lightweight 911 supplied door pulls. I made the trim bits for where the strap goes through the panel. The panels are foamex, very light and water proof!
I had a problem with the cage interfering with the door top trim so got a little inventive.

I think I'll trim the alloy profile I made so it blends in and looks factory. I've made the latch pulls from leather so will be fitting it all up v soon.

Looking cool!
1. What is the white square towards the rear of the door for? - presumably this is to open the door from the inside - do you just push it?
2. The ally trim piece at the front - can you do a pic with the door closed so we can see how it looks sat next to the roll cage
I love the details on this project
Cheers

Mark, I'll do an extra snap. The whiter square is where I haven't cut ot the door shell to allow the strap for opening through yet.

rs doors
Final pictures of doors trimmed. ( Well final before I clean em anyway)
Worked out well I think,
Foamex free offcuts from signmaker,
Handles £cheap from lightweight 911,
Latch pulls second hand belt cut down a dyed then polished,
Trim detail free alloy from old lagging.
Leathercloth £20
Fastners and rivnuts £5
Time 1 Day max.

next I'm making a parcel shelf trim along the same lines with a shaped return to come up to the rear window like a targa one. Thanks for the inspiration (alan uk)

R car
Picked up the brakes today ( see "what fits what" in technical help).
Cannot say how happy I am with quality and price.
The sole prop of Rodwell Motorsport , Stuart Brownsea, will do any machine work to the very highest standard. He now has my cases to shuffle pin and by pass mod and my heads to twin plug . You would not believe how reasonable the prices are. He must be the best kept secret of Hillman imp and motorcycle race engineering I ever known. You should see the dry sump conversions he makes for Imps not to mention bespoke flow benched heads , manifolds, gearbox parts.
I'm one very happy customer tonite.
