4-Valve DOHC engine
Hi together,
I am currently in the status of building a 4-valve DOHC-flat 4-engine. I have engineered a complete new cylinderhead plus camboxes, manifolds, etc...
I do this project together with Robert Bernauer from RMB www.rbernauer.de.
The engine will be based on a crank with 5 bearings and so will easily stand the high revving that we expect.
We are sure the engine will easily be around 90 PS per 1000cc. Biggest capacity will be 2.500 cc. I want to install it into my 914, Robert wants the first into a Beetle.
In a few weeks the first heads will be casted. Now that I have my own milling centre and CAD/CAM it will be much easier to bring the project forward. Will keep you posted on this matter.
Try to attach some pics, but don´t know if it works.

(could only make this link to my site with info on)

sorry to link to another forum, but I didn´t get it working to install pictures. Thanks for the tip, but it didn´t help. Hope you don´t mind me making the link to the german PFF, but wanted to give you an idea how the heads look currently.

Hi,
if the project will be successful we will surely have different cams and valves. But let´s do one step behind the other.
Thank you all for you interest in this project.
The first heads will be casted early in December, then we will have them milled on my centre. Then I hope to show you a little more.
The camshaft drive plate (don´t know the correct name for this) is being done at the moment and will be finnished within the next weeks.
Will keep you posted, if you like.

Update 4-valve DOHC-engine
Hi,
wanted to give you an update on the 4-valve engine.
The second batch of heads were casted after some changes were made to the mold. Finnished milling them about three weeks ago and now they are at Robert Bernauer (my partner in this project) for accomplishing and flowbench-testing. Then a first engine will be built. The engine will look like an old Carrera engine (Fuhrmann 4 cam) and we will have a similiar cooling system. I hope to install such an engine in my 914, which I´ve started to restaurate in the meantime.
Can not add pictures here. Can anyone of you help me? I can send you a picture (which size?)
