Manufactured Year?

Post by Patrice »

Can you identify manufactured year by the VIN/chassis number? :?:

The V5C has a special notes ie 'Declared Manufactured 1967' but always thought it was a 1969

68 and 69 model years chassis no should be 8 figure nos starting with 118 and 119 respectively. Earlier cars are 6 figure starting from 300001 for coupe and 500001 for Targa.

Cheers

The chassis number is 119110753, so it's a 1969?

It is by the number - it should be a 1969 (long wheelbase) 911T Targa

Hi Peter,

I think you were wright to mention it, now I know it's a 1969 model and not a 1967 as the registration number. :thumbright:

Thanks

You are not allowed to have a registration number that makes a car look newer than it really is. There is no restriction in making a car look older !! A rule invented for the back-daters !!

Hi Patrice,

Have you contacted the last owner Stuart and asked about the Nb plate.
The VIN is 100% a 69 Vin and the DVLA will issue you a correct year plate if you want one as I think I saw the year (ie 69) on the V5, but I am unsure how/why the car has a 67 UK plate which would have been issued when the car was originally imported.

HTH

Hi Alan,

Also on the V5C the model/type is marked as 'Carrera Coupe Super Spt' and as mentioned before 'Declared Manufactured 1967'.

Would the DVLA make the change easily or this could take ages and difficult to get it right?

my 69 911E, was initially given a 1967 'E' related suffix when i registered it ..

i contacted my local dvla and advised them of the error, and 2 days later i received a correct 'G' suffix

:) - i did equip myself with any relevant information i could muster in relation to the car-(even if it was not required) but i guess i had an advantage over most people as my chassis number is 00002  -no guessing the production date ,or letter from porsche needed .

it would be worth contacting the dvla , i doubt it would take too long, may involve an inspection of the vehicle at your local office-and i assume would then simply be a matter of days? i am sure they would advise you accordingly.

i guess it all depends on how you feel about your car being pre dated- worth a phone call at least.

Hi Patrice,

Just caught up with this thread. Steve's advice is the best, contact the DVLA I am sure they will help and will be able to make the necessary changes.
