Hi Philippe, yes I remember, only it was sometime last year you sent the ACS logo! I am soon to have it made up by my vinyl man, so will post a picture so you can see.

Welcome to DDK, you have found a great place to share your early Porsche interest. Why not put some pictures of your car on the new members section or just say hi with a picture of the car in General Chat.

You will find everybody here is very friendly, so great to hear from you and looking forward to seeing your car one day!

i read some threads and i have to say that you, english people are crazy with sportscars

but i knew that !

i 'm amazed by the high tech level of your recreation... but the Martini needs that..

1972 -2.4S- chassis / slightly modified 911/83 RS engine rebuilt and tuned by myself, self made vinyls and body ajusting...

At last time to update the thread, and it's been a pretty horrendous past few months.

The bodyshop, after doing a fantastic job of the metalwork, messed up the paintwork so it had to go back and be done again, it's a lot better this time, but sadly the bonnet got damaged while just having the underside blacked, so it had to be stripped back and done again, stripes and all!

While that was going on went to the States and picked up an original set of high butterflies, gear sets for the new ratio's, RSR flywheel and a clutch set, coilover suspension conversion kits and a few other bits and pieces. Unfortunately on getting back, had the really bad news that the machine shop who have had the cases and heads for 6 months now say it can't do them anytime soon due to their work load!

So the schedule has now gone out the window and it won't make Classic Le Mans

I have to remind myself it took years to get my RS rep to the level it was, and as this one will be very special, way past that, I'm sure it will all be worthwhile.

It's booked for the Targa Florio re-run next May so adding the graphics to the painted stripes, as it will run in all it's 'war paint' and in the meantime have started putting together the suspension. The bilstein coilovers finally arrived having been on order for months, so was able to start fitting them up with the bits from Smart Racing and Wevo, they are looking pretty mean.

Off the Germany next week to pick up some more bits, so progressing, but slowly. Here's some recent pics:

Like a good wine or even the update to this thread, it will certainly be worth the wait

I'd be very interested to know more about your proposed coilover setup, particularly the mix of springs / rates that you will be using front & rear?

Hi Oliver, yes the bodies are one of the last original sets that Matt took over from Vasek Polak, who put them together for his race cars. The trumpets are the very last set of original ones he had, he now offers re-manufactured ones which look great and are smoother and better finished than the originals. The other difference is the new ones have a flame retardant built in the plastic so won't catch fire like the originals do

Hi Martin, the springs in the picture are the rough guesstimate ones for getting the car up on it's wheels. Then once the car is weighed the final spring settings will be worked out. The red 'helper' spring is what will make the car more compliant for road use, hopefully! Will let you know what it works out to.
