I bought one in August from Type 911, cost £46 +VAT http://www.type-911.co.uk/ and noticed that the original supplier's sticker was www.automotion.com - they show them currently at $56.95.
Reckon the Pelican one is not a bad price then.

I bought a large socket and "adjusted" it with an angle grinder, not pretty but it worked.

Not sure if you mean the ball joint itself or the socket to undo the castelated nut. I use an air chisel to undo the old nut and a Lower Ball Joint Socket for Peugeot 405/Citroen (Sealey SX027t) costing £7.70 to tighten the new one. http://tinyurl.com/2dtfcz

Cheers Nick, that was the answer I was looking for ! Seven quid sounds better than 47 dollars. I might even try the grinding the socket method ( as long as I don't have to butcher a Snap On socket )  Thanks for the help boys ,Ian
