so I thought I would share..
The main leak was the oil from the gear box and this was the imput shaft seal. When it gets real bad it leaks over the clutch and makes it slip..
The next was the front pulley seal and that is part due to a crap seal inthe first place as I had already done it about 6 months back
Also amazing as it sounds!! the oil Pressure unit was leaking!!!!!! never seen one of those leak before!!
next was on the top of the heads there is two breather pipes and the rubber seal to blank this off was leaking due to old age and going hard so I used a suitable sealant to re seal that area this seams to be the main reason why our heat exchangers are covered in oil
also I check the oil cooler but I have already replaced these seals..
Then onto the breather pipe from the oil filler tank again the pipe was old and brittle and leaking..
Then the oil pump cover was also leaking.. new gasket and seal it up
I also last time sealed the rocker box gaskets on .. this was a trick an old 356 owner told me and it was great you do end up bining the seal each time but they didn't leak ... just every where else did
will do the same again. and hope this time I can put the heatexcahngers back on with out gasing me out with hot oil smells...
let you know how I get on with it,,,but I will make up a long list of poss leaks for these engines .. for newbie's to work though..
