912 failed it's 'first' MoT

Post by MartinP »

:( Well, rather predictably, the 912 failed it's first MoT under my ownership. Front calipers (rebuilt by Classic Car Automotive) arrived just in the nick of time and were fitted last night before MoT this morning.

Good news is that the brakes were then more than adequate for the test. Bad news is that the leaking front damper and rust around the front and rear suspension mounts weren't.

Max at Revival has kept the car in the hope that he can sort the work and get a retest before the weekend - finger's crossed, and I can't think of anyone else that I'd rather have looking after the car at the moment!

Can't help but feel a bit sad though that my first couple of months of ownership seem to have involved more trips to the garage than out on lovely drives! Ah well, let's hope it picks up from here onwards!

Sorry to hear that :(

I guess the positive side is that the car is in good hands and will be nice & sorted for the summer now 8) (if we get one  )

Best wishes for the re-test

Too right! I got mine back last Friday and it's tipped down every day since!

It'll be worth it in the end Martin

And to make matters worse, when I rolled into work this morning in a borrowed Ford Galaxy, I was immediately greeted by the sight of James Lipman's 911! How unfair is that? Even if it is raining, there's no reason for him to go rubbing in the fact that mine is off the road!

Thanks to Max at Revival Cars, the 912 now has a ticket for another year. Not to mention two new front dampers and less holes in the metalwork that shouldn't be there. Should be picking it up tonight and then will hopefully kill the charging demons at Andy Prill's on Monday. THEN all I need are new tyres...

Looks like as a 'newbie' I missed that one. Not sure I can afford it after the MoT anyway!
