I was told that the "early" cars had this seal which was superseded by the 911 seal by Porsche during 914 production.
The window scrapper you have fitted is not correct to original spec and doesn’t arrive via Stoddard in Porsche Original spare part packaging.
It might work better than the other one you tried which again is an alternative supplied part and not one supplied by Porsche original parts.
The part number used on Stoddard website is not correct to the factory part!
The number used is for the mounting gutter which did change for the 73 model year; no mention of a left and right side window scrapper as they are sided!
If Porsche change the part during production, however small they did change the part number last two digits to indicate the different versions. Depending on what the part is the last two digits would be either 00 or 10.
The window scrapper part number ends with 10 and indicates that it hasn’t changed through production. If it had changed it would be updated with another number i.e. 11 or 01 for the 00 ending numbers.
On the factory original part diagram for the early doors as well as the late doors; it clearly shows the profile as having the lip on the seal.
One way people can get confused is that over the years and especially in hot climates rubber goes hard.
The lip bit of the window scrapper would be bent up at an angle when mounted and would spit over time and break off all together.
On my first 1.7 this had happened and every time I wound up the window a thin rubber strip would be up the glass.
For those who have never seen the full rubber would never know that it would have had a lip when originally fitted.
Look at your removed window scrappers and study the edge that would be against the glass and you should see that it is not a smooth finish.
