Re: Lock barrel brass tumblers help

A trunk key has been mentioned a couple of times here. Where is this found please? I wasn’t aware of it and have only ever opened the trunk with the pull cable inside the car. I haven’t tried keysinthepost but recently I was looking for the key number for my car but the key I had was quite worn and ...

Re: Wheel cleaning

I haven’t used it but have heard good things about Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel. Non Acid and non alkaline, pH balanced.

Re: Rev counter repairers

Wise idea from Gary. I knew mine had a problem since we fitted a new speedo cable.

If you haven’t done so, take a look at the Porsche parts available. The gaskets and seals we changed were available from Porsche.

Re: Rev counter repairers

I used Hans for my speedo which was bouncing a bit at around 30mph. He did a good job and was pretty quick. Fwiw, Reap focuses more on cosmetic work and sends repair work to Hans anyway.

Dom key number card and barcode

Hello, Carl Bauer used to sell repro Dom key number cards but no longer seems to around. For those of you with original keys and spares, would a 73 have had a stamped number on the card and yellow vin number sticker on the side? If you can help could you please post some photos along with your model...

Re: 1970 "S"

Hi Kirk, Thanks for the amusing update. I know Merchant Taylors well since my son has cricket classes there and will be joining the school in a couple of years. I have seen their classic car meet-up in a previous year. There was lots of variety and I remember seeing a nice E-type which was notable s...

Re: '73 T wiper function questions

Interesting. I have a pull switch on the dashboard for the rear wiper that I am not using since we didn’t reinstall the rear wiper set. This could be a suitable switch for the intermittent function.

Re: Fuch centre cap - larger ring

Hi Gary, I hope you are well. If you have no luck finding a used one, Sierra Madre sell the ring type without the holes (apparently Porsche don’t sell this type without the holes) https://sierramadrecollection.com/products/center-cap-ring-clip-silver-74-89-p17496?variant=39799621091386 Kind regards ...

I bought one from Roger Bray since Andy recommended this from his experience. No issues with it but it was quite a tight fit. You could try this.

Re: Black and silver number plates

I found an exception. The wonderful Austin Maxi had a production run from 1969 to 1981. The DVLA must have been thinking about this car when they made their change. Ps I know nothing about the Austin Maxi so please don’t take offence. My dad did buy a new Triumph Toledo when I was a baby and he said...

Re: Black and silver number plates

That DVLA change doesn’t make sense to me. I know 1973 cars originally had yellow plates at the rear and white at the front but the silver black still look right on cars of that vintage since earlier models of 911 had that or similar style of plate. By 1980 I can’t remember many cars that silver/bla...
