Sorry, I honestly meant RHD, but certainly goofed; must be dyslexic.
Great details. The 911S details are certainly specific; rear wiper is certainly an option.

Re: Earls Court Show Cars October 1968

I have a copy of the Official Show Guide for the 1968 Earls Court Motor Show, and whilst each vehicle on display is comprehensively described, no engine/chassis numbers are quoted. Arfor, Even the model # and paint colour would be significant. I assume that all would be LHD. I know the 1964 car was...

Re: Earls Court Show Cars October 1968

Andy, were there any write-ups of the shows that may have had some details? Which newspapers or magazines that would have the best chance of useful info?

Re: Best PR disaster I’ve seen for some time

Navigating by GPS, not by onboard sensors. I know that general GPS devices are only accurate to within several meters, and they may have advanced GPS to within a meter or so, but that is not good enough for auto driving vehicles. It could be useful for a first approximation of location and future st...

1968 model year Karmann Coupe built Oct/Nov 1967
You could get the Kardex for the car; higher price but more info, and may be faster.

Re: Classic motorbike 2 stroke experts?

What is the state of the condenser? Happened across a mention of magneto ignition elsewhere, and it was stated that bad windings and/or bad condenser were responsible for most failures with this system.

Re: Classic motorbike 2 stroke experts?

In a two stoke cylinder both intake and exhaust ports are exposed as the piston goes down. Air fuel mixture in the crankcase is pumped by the piston through the intake port. However it can flow right out the exhaust port unless there is some restriction. Normally the restriction is a pressure wave r...

Re: Classic motorbike 2 stroke experts?

Two stroke engines usually use the exhaust as part of the "tuning" process. I had to put expansion chamber exhaust on my Suzi GT after having the cylinders ported. Pressure waves travel down the pipe and reflect back due to expansion chamber design. Part of the design ensures charge stays ...

Re: Classic motorbike 2 stroke experts?

Great, so unlikely to be problems there. One wild idea: is there any gearing of the kick starter that could cause a reduction of crankshaft speed from normal? I've no idea how the mechanism works. On my old (1972 & 1974) Suzi 750's the electric start was such that a quick jab on the button was s...
