Hope you fit something unusual!
Wonder how much hot air the number plate lip seal stops from being pulled in off the hot silencer?
My 73T has never had that seal since I bought it in '88 but it can get hot in mid summer/traffic queue etc.

Re: Scissors lift real?
A great price, but... 3" is quite high off the floor, but they all are if they are to be strong, or rather rigid enough. However, 26" rise is not much! You won't get a 911 engine out from the car at that height without taking some of the induction parts off and having height for some kind ...

I’ll be there, strolling up that hill too!
It is steep.

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?
Been busy on the hillclimber's driveway today. Non Porsche was the ventilation blower motor seizing (nearly) on my leggy Skoda Superb, but got stuck-in and fixed it with some engine oil in the exposed fan shaft bearing. Temporary fix I think, but i need the car! Secondly, after a nice walk in the wo...

Re: Classic and Rebuild Vehicles Consultation
And THAT is why it is important to do the survey which will take about 5 mins, that's all. It is full of this type of stuff, and I am sure the thinking at DVLA is not in our favor. These changes have to be challenged, I thought the DVLA and other depts around were Civil Servants not Civil Masters? I...

Tough decision, but I would have made that miles before, so well done for sticking it out.

Re: Classic and Rebuild Vehicles Consultation
PCGB is not a member of FBHVC.
I have been for several years now, they need people's support otherwise the DVLA will simply tear the classic vehicle interest apart.
I will be urging PCGB to join this week. Maybe another request to join will push things along.

Re: Classic and Rebuild Vehicles Consultation
I filled in my form and sent it off a few days ago. ANYONE with a classic vehicle should/must respond to ensure the DVLA/Gov is lobbied as hard as possible. The areas under discussion will affect anyone with an old vehicle in some way or other. Some new rules will come from this and may not be nice...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
Yes, that is true, but need good clean contact of valve and seat to see where things sit. You can see where head prep takes so much time effort and money as you dig deeper. You need all this lot set correctly to shim each valve spring seat…possibly. I had to re shim my 3.2 in several places to get p...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
I used to use one of those compressors, so awkward esp when re-assy of the collet halves. Use my motorcycle cheapie off ebay since (last 2 re-builds) and so much better, lighter and slimmer. As to the seats: I would not wright-off the seats until clean, clean the respective valves and do a simple la...

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
If nothing else Rob, I would ask Head Shop if they can do the case repair.
Mag alloy welding could be tricky to fix.

Re: Assessing an unknown engine
I would still fit the crank back in with new main bearings, lub with assy oil and bolt it all up. If it is tight you know for free the case is bent, the crank will be straight. Then you know you need to do more. The Head Shop can do all this for you Rob. They will insist on clean case halves, and wi...
