Overalls

Hi All I am looking for fifties/sixties style buff overalls, you know the sort of thing normaaly worn by a cigerette smoking grubby slightly harassed looking mechanic seen in the background of so many racing photos, I have seen them for sale a few years back but can't remember where although I do re...

Re: 565 NOK Rechtslenkung Survivor - just about....

Hi
the workmanship looks very good but it might be worth checking the clearance between the shifter linkage and the inside of the floor as it looks like you may have fitted an A rear floor, a B floor dishes down under the coupling to give more clearance, Bill

A steering wheel, no really..

Hi all I have "lost" an A steering wheel, if anyone comes across an ivory "A" wheel that has been a little crudely repainted in ivory it could be mine, it was fitted with a full horn ring that had a crack almost through one of its spokes, obviously I will need to replace it so if...

Re: Problemoes

Hi All this is no critisism (is that how its spelt) of this article but 356 engines often wear all over, that is to say when you start digging into them you find that many parts have reached the end of their lifespan at the same time unlike 911's where quite a bit can be re-used, sometimes excessive...

The guy I sold it to was Conner, he was a very big chap, not fat, just plain big, he tried adjusting the seat in my Pre A and shoved it off the runners as they are a bit flimsier in the early cars, the history file was not massive but was quite interesting, Conner and his mate wanted a historic rall...

Hi me again its a shame if the history has gone missing as it was pretty good, I remember some letters from an architect who owned it in the late sixties, the invoices and letters in regard to its engine rebuild by Westmorelands Vw and invoices for around four and a half thousand from Mr Curtiss, th...

Hello, in regard to the 356B are you one of the two guys that came to buy it or did you get it from them, I understood it was bought to go historic rallying and went on a Classic Marathon to Istanbul... As far as matching numbers are concerned the crankcase has definitely been changed as there is a ...

Porsche 917 large toy.

Hi I recently rediscovered this large remote control 917 in a cupboard at my mums house, it was given to me about twenty five years ago in exchange for helping a friend with a type 3 Vw, anyway its about twenty inches long and does not appear to have ever been used, its all plastic but quite nicely ...

I think I owned that car around eleven years ago and although very pretty with a fortune spent on the running gear the underside was a big old patchwork quilt, I sold it for twelve I think and did explain it would need floors and longitudinals etc, unless there are two RHD B's in that colour whose r...

911 Valves and interior door handles.

Hi here are some odd left overs, there are two exhaust valves and one inlet all new TRW for a 2.2 911 and one inlet for a 3.3 Turbo £40 for all four inc postage, and a pair of interior door handles, I think these are both unused although one has a very slighly faded appearance £30 the pair inc posta...

Hi don't use water, use something like wd40 or brake cleaner and spray it around the base of the manifold and carb, by the way I'm assuming the carbs are Zenith's not the earlier Solex's, Just listen for a change in the idle although if its not idling at all... It may be worth having a look to see i...

That king pin suggestion is a good one, my friend had a VW split van that was a death wish to drive at any real speed before I freed up a binding King pin. Also I thought with dropped spindles the excessive bump steer problem was avoided as essentially the working geometry of the front suspension re...

Hi Winston the Grannie sounds good especially the division part of it, I'll take it! On a more serious note I think I want an E class tank to put our gang in, as I am not a fan of the front driver Volvos, they're rubbish at towing things or maybe I'm a bit throttle happy, that said there is a dead V...

Hi failing condensers tend to cause a fair bit of crackling and popping, I would suggest you stop prodding at it and go back to the start, it sounds like you either had a set of sticking bob weight in the dizzy or a weird air leak under a carb, but really what you should be doing is checking the val...
