Re: Relative Values?
Obviously you need to know the Achilles Heal of any potential used car model. Ive kept three W111 coupes from the 60's / early 70's and even 15 years ago Mercedes was quoting between £ 2800 - £ 4000 for a bumper ( depending on 6 or V8 cylinder model ). Even much newer used Merc supply prices are exp...

Re: Relative Values?
Don't forget than the SL hardtop is big and heavy. Will require 2 to remove and fit.
Also needs somewhere to store.

Re: Relative Values?
I've kept a manual Pagoda 230SL and an 80's 380 SLC ( coupe version of the convertible ). The Pagoda always felt a tad agricultural to drive but the 3.8 V8 was very nice and surprisingly economical. Certainly no problems keeping up with traffic. Silky smooth competant engine with autobox plus power ...

Re: 911 T - opinions please
Certainly looks well. Someone must have spent plenty restoring it. I've only driven a 2.0l and owned a 2.2T and 2.2S ( which I didn't really like ). They all looked , sounded and handled very similar to me, so condition overrides performance figures, unless it's for track days or racing. Only one wa...

Re: Any Valve car radio experience on here ?
So Oldtimer, when you say it's supercool, do you mean supercool
as in Wayne Carini - "everything I see is cool"
or that the valves don't run hot ?
Has it caused any problems with the other electrics ?
Thanks
Richard

Any Valve car radio experience on here ?
Anyone on here running a valve radio on their 50's / early 60's classic ? I recently picked up a lovely ' untested ' period model correct valve radio for my car with the intention of fitting it for show only. When it arrived it was in such nice condition that I'm wondering whether I should repair it...

Easy to see why the barber's been distracted by that W111 coupe.

Re: Desperately seeking Brexs*it customs advise
If you buy something privately from a private seller in the UK currently no VAT is payable. If the private seller resides in the EU, we currently have a reciprocal arrangement with the EU so again VAT and tariffs aren't payable. When we leave the EU that arrangement may change and a sales tax ( VAT ...

Re: Desperately seeking Brexs*it customs advise
So Neil that link has more to do with VAT registered company business transactions. If I, as a private consumer that's not VAT registered purchase a product from outside the EU ( not through a company that can reclaim the VAT) I, as the end consumer am liable to VAT, Royal Mail will not deliver it u...

Desperately seeking Brexs*it customs advise
Anyone on here up to speed on how / if we will now be charged VAT when buying goods and parts from Europe from November 1st ? Possible tariffs / zero tariffs have been explained and discussed at length by our Honourable Masters. Yet I'm still clueless. From past experience, the tariffs don't execute...
