Alan, so here are some pics. Pads used are Ferodo FCP 2R. Code on the caliper is Ate P81 whereas the fronts are Ate 251. so don't know if this helps identify them. Ought to add I use the same pads in the front and they fit fine. I've got a note that the rear piston diameters are 34mm but I ought to ...

Many thanks Alan, looks like my info on the SC disc sizes was wrong. I'd got it from Peter Morgan's Original Porsche 911 which states for the SC the disc diameters were now 287 and 295, after previously stating for the 2.2 that the discs were 282 and 290. Just shows you can't believe all that you re...

changes in 911 brake disc diameter

I'm looking to replace my brake discs and I see GSF and pelican list one part no. spanning from 69-82. Now from what I can make out 2.2 cars should have 282mm diam fronts and 290mm diam rears and this diam stayed the same until the introduction of the SC in 78 when both the front and rear discs were...

Yep, if the roads are quiet, and they hopefully will be Sunday morn, then it's a nice route across country, or at least the first half is, I'm not too familiar with the latter bit. Don't know what time things get going, and I've not found any timing details in the mag or on the web. Agree it will be...

Ian, I'll also be planning an early morning start Sunday and could aim to meet up depending on your planned route. Were you thinking of cross country route?
Direct route for me would likely involve Stow, Chipping Norton, Deddington, Aynho, Buckingham....

Ian, Also note that if you want the cage to be acceptable for motorsport disciplines that require a cage, I don't know how far your plans extend, then you will need construction to be in line with MSA blue book. Suspect this will differ from what is period correct. I'd also add to your list some of ...

Just double checking with you that these are chrome and not aluminium?

I have chrome ones on my car but they should be aluminium for the year so would be interested in yours if they were ali.

thanks

Alan, finally got around to separating transmission from engine yesterday, and it was in fact as easy as you said, thanks for the advice. Release bearing has certainly seen better days as it feels as rough as a rough thing. Pressure plate housing is Aluminium which seems to align with what Pelican a...

thanks Alan, Yep, engine and box out and I've already had a go trying to separate them with the 4 main nuts off which was when I found there was more to it. I'd been following one of Wayne Dempsey's books which failed to mention any of ths. All the bearing pictures I can find don't appear to have &q...

Engine/transmission separation

I'm considering separating the engine and gearbox while its out to look at the state of the clutch etc. It's a 1970MY 2.2T From reading the haynes manual, I need to make up sleeves or distance collars through which I thread M6 * 12 socket head screws to relieve tension on release bearing. What it do...

Engine mounted oil cooler removal

I've had an annoying oil leak from around where the engine mounted oil cooler is for quite some time now and although I'm not losing a lot it is certainly going a long way, including over the offside rear brake disk. Consequently I've bitten the bullet and taken the engine and box out of the car in ...

Phillip, looks like this is going to be a great social event so please put my name down. I've just printed off the entry form so will be sending it off with cheque tonight. BTW looks like the member/non-member price differential is enough to justify renewing my PCCB membership for another year. It r...

So, with a bit of luck and support from photobucket heres a few more shots. As they're ones I've taken they're only shots in carparks at rest halts etc rather than action shots but nevermind. This is a clean car at the start: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s108/andrewish/Picture004.jpg A few car...

thanks guys, Hilary did superbly on the navigating although she was pretty quesy on a few of the night time legs. Apart from one very costly wrong slot on the Tuesday evening where we collected maximum lateness penalties at a control, we were getting very respectable low penalty scores each day. The...

Trial picture post from Winter Classic Trophy

Just got back from a great week competing on the Winter Classic Trophy which started in Gaydon, Warwickshire and ended in Edinburgh. I've got a number of photos but before I try and post them here's a trial posting of one someone else took of us. As you can see, if posting works, we had some superb ...
