DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Driving to work this morning on the M25, normal car park at around 7, go to pull away and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor, no resistance at all. Having pushed the car onto the hard shoulder, the helpful motorway maintance people gave me a poncho the same colour yellow as my car, which was nice. Anyway to the point, the car is at a Porsche guru who tells me that there is a nylon clip arrangement that connects the cable to the clutch release arm on the gerabox and that has worn out. A quick fix, but is this a common occurence? Has anyone else had this problem? Should it be replaced and part of my 6/12 month tinkering routine?

It has happened to my twice , it's a sinking feeling isnt it, the second time I got the AA to stick some jubilee clips on it for me and made some adjustment at the clevis to get me home, worked a treat.

My advice would be to get a Weltmeister metal replacement, and you'll never worry about that little sod again. I think Roger Bray may still have some.

yep, sounds familiar, happened to me the first week I had the car which happened to be on a Sunday evening in the middle of France.

Fortunately it was one of the spares I'd bought for the trip . I understand that the nylon cable end was only used for the 2.2 cars but I could well be wrong. It does seem to me to be an obvious weak point - I hadn't realised that metal replacements are available.

Does anyone know why Porsche chose nylon (or some sort of plastic) for this part?

Thanks for the info, I'll have to order up a metal one. But don't get me wrong, i like people looking at my car, just not sitting on the hard shoulder of a motorway.
