When I switch on the ignition, energising the fuel pump (Hardi diaghram type), I get fuel spraying down one throat of a triple weber carburretor.

Both the pump and carburettors have been stripped and rebuilt.

Could it be that a float needle valve isn't working and pressurising a float chamber? I have already checked the valves once and thought they were ok. I wondered also if the pump pressure needs to be regulated??

Any suggestions?

Afraid it is likely to be the needle valves.

They do give trouble...

I have a spare if you get stuck..

But the Hardi is normally very good..is it possible the rebuild may have inadvertently upset the pressure?

I should have a spare needle valve somewhere, but thanks for the offer.

I did wondered myself if the pump pressure is higher now after the rebuild.

The first thing to do is check the float levels, which is what it sounds like to me. To check if the needle valve, take the top off the carb and push the valve shut and blow down the fuel inlet. When you let go of the valve, it should move freely.

depends if it is an 'aftermarket' pump or non standard equipement. If I have read your 1st post correct it is a stock pump so you should be OK.

Alan & Davids advice is spot on. I just rebuilt the Webers on my '67 and the needle valves are part of the rebuild kit

Yes it can be a needle valve, or for the weber of my friend car same problem but for him it was a little hole in the float...
