Does anyone have or know who stocks chain tensioner repair kits. I know mittel motor do them, but was looking for something a little closer and a little more instant than ordering from Germany.
Or even less likely has got one that they would want to part with?

Hi Gengs,
If you aren't going the Carrera tensioners route they recommend you fit these guards:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/sho ... .htm#item7
I've never used them but they stop the early style tensioners from collapsing completely. If you rebuild the tensioners there is always a risk that one may still fail and from the chats we had about engine rebuilds at the Ace last year you wouldn't want another of those!!!
Wonder if any other DDKers have used these?

I have a pair of the later spring loaded tensioners (930.105.053.00) which are less prone to failure. These were take out of my 2.2S motor yesterday which had just been rebuilt when I got it. I am rebuilding it again and fitting pressure fed tensioners so these are surplus to requirements. If these may be of interest let me know.
Thanks

if you are fitting the later 930 spring tensioners you will need either a 10 mm (approx) spacer, available from Porsche, between the tensioner and the jockey wheel, or a matching jockey wheel with the wider mounting boss.

Those tensioner guards from pelican saved my engine from destruction, I didnt know they were fitted untill I got a knocking noise which turned out to be a failed tensioner hitting the guard. obviously I re-fitted it to the new tensioner I put in. There was quite a in-depth thread into this a while ago.
