Could one of these lovely beauties fit in the back of my 911

They must trust the welds on the engine stand .

So does anyone have an idea what one of those 917 engines will go for?

OK, I raise my poor lamented head far above the parapet here but what, exactly, from left to right, clockwise perhaps even, are we looking at here?

What you are looking at is 4 NOS 917 engines (12 cylinder, one just to the left of the pic), an NOS 908 3.0L engine (8 cylinder), a NOS 907 hillclimb engine (8 cylinder), a 3.4L 911 high performance engine that where owned by a guy called Vasek Polak but where stolen in 2000 but recovered recently and are been sold via Pelican Part in the States.

The 3 at the rear are NOS 12-cylinder 917 engines, the one on the front right hand side is a NOS 3-litre 908 engine & the one at the front left hand side is even rarer - it's a 771 907 hillclimb motor - essentially an 8-cylinder version of the 4-cylinder 4-cam engine used in the 550 Spyder.

These engine were stolen from the late Vasek Polak's estate in '99 &, with the help of Wayne Dempsey (co-founder/boss of Pelican Parts) were miraculously recovered a couple of months ago.

They are due to be auctioned in a few weeks...

What does NOS mean?

d'y think your local friendly AA man might have a spare distributor ,or maybe an injector in his van to get you home if you got stuck on the M25?

Personally I like the idea of a backseat delete Option 356A coupe with the 8 cylinder 4 cam in there ....Of course you would probably need the 12-bolt diff carrier to have any chance of your box staying together for more than 5 minutes ...but wouldnt it be

By the way these engines (as a job lot) where auctioned off last weekend for some where between $1m and $2m
