Ok as many of you may know I have been running my 911 without a rear muffler. It was basically running like a race system which made it incredibly loud!!! :lol:

Anyway in search of track days and civil duty I am now running the most highly rated back box by our US friends on Pelican parts. A flowmaster delta flow 80 series muffler.
Its amazing the car seems so quiet to me now.. just civil and pleasent, but it screams when you wind it up, which is nice. :)

Because my car is backdated, I had to remove the heat tubes that run under the car connecting the heat exchangers and the blower motor in the engine bay.

Check out this pic from pelican that shows you what the stock 3.2 heater tubes should look like.

I need to figure a way to connect the 2 exchangers and also the blower motor in the engine bay.

I need some sort of Y piece tube around the same diameter of the original tubing which I can then attach some flexible ali hoses to.

Does anyone know where I could get a piece like that? The original will not fit even when cut because of the tight space issues.

Or any better soloution would be appriciated.

Kill 2 birds with one stone sort you heat out and make you engine bay look 100 times better! Backdate it!

So you have been here for awhile.. nice. Thanks for the good advice.

The thing is I am afraid that the car won't be able to kick out enough heat to keep me warm on those early morning goodwood runs.

It does look better without all that plastic ducting though.

Hmmn...

Actually it still leaves me with the same problem underneath.

This might help in the short term, I used to use one on a a kitcar. They dont have to be dash mounted and pump out a good amount of the warm stuff.

If you back date your heat you don't have to connect the heat exchangers to each other as you have a left and right feed from the fan.

I wouldnt worry about having enough air flow to provide heat, disconnect the pipe that comes from the shroud and feel how much air is blown out even at idle its quite significant. and if you do boths sides you would have plenty.

The other thing to consider is that if the air flow is less the air temp will be higher so you wont need as much flow to get heat into the car.

Im hoping to do mine in the next week or so, the hard part is finding the update left heat socket there 100 quid from porsche.

Also as derek pointed out if you backdate at both side you dont need the connecting Y piece as each heat exchanger is fed individually from opasite sides of the shroud. you then just use the flexi hose from the socket down to the individual HE.

If you do want to go ahead with this the PN is 930-106-321-02 for the left side as the early ones wont fit due to the distributor on the 3.2. for the right side any right side heat socket will fit.

Hey chaps,

Thanks for the input. I don't really fancy having a tube on both sides of the Fan. I'd rather just have just the left heat socket, with minimal tubing.

£100 seems alot of dough for a bit of plastic huh? I wonder if they are cheaper from the states???? Steve have you tried pelican?

I have decide to take the existing Y piece and modify it, by chopping it up a bit and welding a tube on one end. Gonna see if Barry can give me a hand with that.

Steve keep me posted to how your conversion goes. I would really like to get rid of that big blower unit as it will look 10 X better with it gone.

Did you come up with a solution to this? I agree the heat socket is a rip of at 100 quid I was feeling creative today and came up with this.

Not the best looking solution in the world but sure beats that ugly fan and for the cost of a tenners worth of fiber glass carnt complain too much.

Admittedly it wouldnt solve you cross over pipe problem.
