914 rolling body/chassis wanted

Hello
I brought a 914 which looked resonable, I've gone quite a bit in and realised that its very rusty and probably no good for me to personally restore. I like a good car and dont think id want one with repro panels all over it.

The cars complete and running, I took the motor and g'box out this past weekend to clean it all up (and likely were going to fit my spare 2.7L), but once again found more rust.

Anyone got a or know of a semi solid incomplete project car/roller for sale in the UK?

Cheers

Why not bid for the 914 conversion (with 2.2 911 engine) on Ebay :

... its only at £2050 and already met its reserve.

Can you remember what it got to?

Last time it got to £4700. There is a suspicion in the 914 group that there might be some "strategic bidding" going on this time!

Just had a word with him: it seems as though he's after £6.5K for it. He's letting the auction run with virtually no reserve, but might well pull it before the end.

Busts my budget at that, as you're just about back into 911 money again. The only other thing is that the engine has only done a few trips since being built: would much prefer to see a few thousand settling in miles on it (no oil pressure gauge either so you'd be risking that as well). Sounded a nice bloke though.

Alternatively Dave McKillop ( Growler914 on here i think ? ) still has his 914/4 which was looking for a new home .
He has robbed a few bits and pieces off it to complete his 914/6 restoration but could do a job for you .I'll pm you his email address.

Hello DrummerboyTom

Thanks for the tip for Dave, i've sent him an email, so we can see what he has! cheers

I also saw the 914 on ebay last night, 99% rust free sounds very good... much better than mine, at maybe 50% rust free. This sounds good, but chances are it will go above my limit cash wise, maybe a 914 isnt viable for my financial situation at the moment.

I'll keep an eye on both anyway and let you know how it goes.

Check these rust pics:
