Have just bought a 2.2T, dead chuffed with it. Any recommendations on the best oils for the engine and box ??

Probably the best gearbox oil is Swepco 201 and for the engine a non synthetic 20w50 or 15w40 seems to be the norm. You will also find that most people change there oil more often than they change there underpants

Porsche recommend Mobil 1 for all years now IIRC...

I use full synthetic in my 2.4S. I will be using Mobil1 at the next oil change

The lad I bought it from used Castrol GTX with a "thickener". The pressure is just below 60 maximum... the engine has not had any major work as far as I can tell from the history, except oil feds and new chains and ramps, but it doesn't smoke or knock or leak rather surprisingly, but must have worn bearings I would wager. Done 91,000, mainly on Guernsey. So I guess I need a healthy 20:50 or similar with good circulation. I can feel the oil change approaching this weekend.

If your engine is just a nat's c*ck under 60 psi 4 bar @ 4500 rpm your bearings are within limits IMO. If you want to boost the oil pressure you can fit 964 Turbo cam oil suppply line restictors. They also reduce foaming in the sump and reduce fluctuation in the oil tank level. I'm seriously thinking of modding both my cars. I'd be intersted to know if any other DDKers have tried this mod. They are pennies apparently. Check out the Pelican Parts website and Wayne Dempsey's books for more details.

agree that pressure is ok, not great but not burning anything at least, it feels strong and not laboured so I hope no probs for a few seasons
