The thresh-hold plates on a 73 911 - were they riveted on or clipped on with plastic clips or screwed on ?

Hi there,
if you mean the wider sill plates, these are held on by plastic type rivets with a white centre plug, the thinner carpet plates are screwed
thanks

I am refering to the aluminium trim plates on top of the sills ( the plates you see when you open the door

)

On mine they were held down with SS self tappers. Not sure if this was original though so I guess that's no help

Mine are held on my metal rivets. Has anyone got any photos of the correct fixings?
Thanks

The text for the screws reads: Tapp. screw csk.-raised hd B 3.5 x 16.
The part number, could be changed, is 900 145 041 00.
If not at your dealer, most likely you could get them locally for less than GBP 1 each. You would need 10 for both sides.

That's the part number for the self-tapping screws that hold the aluminium moulding at the base of the door aperture that retains the bottom of the rubber door seal.
The aluminium threshold (scuff) plates were fixed in place with 2-part plastic rivets but due to the price/erratic supply situation over the years, they often get replaced (typically during a respray) with sheet metal screws.

thanks for the info Andy
I don't suppose anyone one has any photos of a car with the correct fixings?

Correct! I am sorry I misunderstood. The part number for the rivets is 999 591 550 40. Today I paid approx GBP 0.35 pluss tax for each.
As soon as I am able to find out how I include a picture, I can post one where you at least get an idea.

Where have you ordered them from, as I could do with some?
Thanks

I ordered them from my friendly, local Porsche dealer in Oslo.
