wheel finishing query

Post by kevster »

Not sure what to do with these rims - the rears look fine but the fronts are both patchy with what looks like an anodised layer that has worn off in places?

Do I get them re-anodised or flatten them down so that all the coating goes?

Im going to re-paint the centres, apparently the colour is for a ltd edition 911 - its graphite grey but with a tiny hint of purple. Anyone know the colour or the model? (wheels are 6 & 7 x 16's)

That looks like a wheel from the 1988 'Anniversary' Carrera 3.2 - colour was Marine Blue Metallic.

Its difficult to see if that is original anodising or lacquer. Either way you need to remove it all and polish the rim before re-anodising or leaving poished

thanks for the advice guys - I think I'll try some paint stripper first and see if it's laqueur - that would make things easier.

cheers, Kevin :)

colour was Marine Blue Metallic.
At the risk of being an anorak I think it was Diamond Blue metallic- my own car used to be that colour
