Ian Walton (ian2.2s) RIP

I’m really sorry to let you know that Ian passed away this morning.

He had been suffering with Motor neurone disease which was diagnosed towards the end of 2023.

He died peacefully this morning with his son Jack and wife Sally at his bedside.

I’ll post on here when I know of the funeral details.

For those of you that didn’t know Ian he was a lovely guy. - a quietly spoken gentleman in the truest sense of that word. He had a great sense of humour and was a loved his driving (he was quick!), but mostly he loved the crack with his DDK buddies. He came on as many of the DDK trips over the years as he could and the DDK community was an important part of his life. He will be sorely missed.

Such sad news today. He was much loved and we’ve got so many memories of Ian both in and out of the cars.

Very sad day and will miss him greatly . I’ll be raising a pint to him tonight.

.

That 's sad news indeed.
I too will raise a glass to his memory this evening.
Although in more recent times his car was Light Ivory, I'll always think of him & his 2.2S when it was Yellow ....

That is sad news Mark, I know you was both good friends so you must be finding Ian's passing tough.

Ian was a proper gent with a quirky style and flair.

That is a shock to hear. Many of you knew Ian better than me but our paths crossed a few times on DDK events/tours with his lovely 911. Sadly hadn’t met him for a few years so I didn’t know he wasn’t well and it is particularly sad to learn about his passing out of the blue. Terrible news and my condolences to all affected.

Regards
Mike

I am shocked by this sad news. This terrible disease takes another good one. We sit and watch Rob Burrows and Doddie Weir so publicly, but this time it’s one of ours, and a really good guy too. I only found out about Ian’s diagnosis last year when so many of us met at Caffeine and Machine. We chatted at the meal afterwards and other than the weakened voice, still the same Ian. Incredible to hear this outcome so soon. I will raise a glass later, remember his bright smile and some on the great trips we went on over the years. As so many switched to more modern cars, with Ian always in the same lovely 2.2s. So long Ian, rest in peace .

Have already raised a glass and will raise another tonight.

Sad news that's hit me and no doubt many others, hard today :(

It's had me reflecting on how many wonderful times and great, great friends I've made through this DDK community and Ian is up there at the top of the tree :)

Bollocks- a great chap gone.
Getting old and sick is a real bummer…..
I do hope Jack can keep up the memory by coming on trips in Ian’s 2.2
