It’s a right mess. ‘Shown and display’ category is getting hit, this much we do understand.

Going to be carnage! Some may argue it’s a tactic to crush share prices then remove the tariffs and when they bounce back make a killing…

I seem to remember several UK politicians jumping about with joy that Trump would get the world all turned around to a new state, he is achieving that well.

What an utter mess, classic cars are not the most important issue but just another snag along the way.

He is utter chaos, others the same, there is no way to say anything good will come of the whole issue facing everyone.

Maddening.

But he might just keep American workers building cars and in gainful employment instead of Mexicans. He might just keep John Deere workers building tractors instead of Mexicans. If you want all your cars to come out of China Tarriff free trade might be a good thing but we don't all see it that way.

'1st world problems' seems an appropriate cliché.....Magneto magazine is glossy yet matte trade rag with an arty blandness that drives me round the bend (inexplicably, I get sent it foc, I even tried to cancel it, unsuccessfully).....Trump might 'lead' us into world war 3, in which case a 25% tariff will be an insignificant flesh wound to the dealers who have milked the untaxed status of enthusiast cars for so long. I also get sent Magneto foc and like you I would rather live without it! I guess it doesn't sell well if they have to give it away. The top 50 I find like something Auto Express would do!

Did not Deere open a factory in Mexico?
If so, I presume it was for the imported product to be cheap for the American farmer?
Shut the Mexican factory and that product is now more expensive to the same American buyer?

Hurts both parties in different ways.

This may be true but assuming USA has a comparative advantage in something else, Americans will have to stop doing something more lucrative in order to assemble those cars and tractors instead. That may be no bad thing of course if they want to preserve their manufacturing base so as not to have strategic weaknesses in the event of war.

I think we moved beyond an economic mess quite a while ago. Lets be in no doubt a trade war is bad for everyone.

Now we have the wantobe Tony Stark handing out $1m cheques to influence a election of a judge. A President that encouraged an attack on The Capital and is already talking trying to be in for a 3 term. Appears he can run as VP.

He is continuing to say nonsense to distract from all his personal side deals.

Bit early to call it but I think it might be the beginning of the end for the USA.

Many years ago when Trump was building his golf course in Scotland I thought he acted like a complete bell end trying to ride roughshod over everyone,especially local planners and property owners who did not want to sell.
I cannot believe America had Joe Biden as president as quite clearly the man was not mentally fit to govern. I am no fan of politicians but I see some good in trying to sort out the madness of people with tadgers playing in womens sport,paying Rory Stewarts wife over a million dollars a year to teach basket weaving to rural Afghan's and paying Iraq millions of dollars to film their version of Sesame Street.
