DDK Meet Edition 2 > questions about travelarrangements from EU (NL)

I was checking how I could travel best from the Netherlands to the DDK Meet Edition 2.
An important part thereof is -of course- the crossing of the Chanel.

There are some options:

Ferry from calais or Dunkerque to Dover (and v.v.)
Ferry from Hook from Holland to Harwich (and v.v.)
Leshuttle from Calais to Folkestone (and v.v.)

Travelling from France to England (Dover or Folkestone) is the cheapest option (appr. € 250 v.v.) and most flexible (timewise). The distance from Dover/Folkestone to the hotel is appr. 180 miles, but it would take over 6 hours to cover those 180 miles (you appearantly have to travel/drive through London :( )

The ferry from Hook from Holland to Harwich (and v.v.) is much more expensive (appr. € 600 v.v.) and not very flexible timewise (only leaving very early in the morning or very late at night). The distance is (also) appr. 180 miles to the hotel, but that distance can be driven in a little over 3 hours.

Costwise those € 600 are comparable to the € 250 because for me it's whether 35 miles to Hook from Holland or 210 miles to Dunkerque/Calais/Folkestone.

Travelling a day early (leaving on Thursday and returning on Tuesday morning would mean 2 extra overnight stays in a hotel which means at least another € 200.

Does anyone have a better idea?
Is there a shorter (timewise) way from Dover/Folkestone to the hotel?

I will be visiting Goodwood Festival of Speed which is the weekend before and I was planning to go home on Monday. Perhaps it's an idea to stay in the UK, but then I have to find something to do and a place to sleep for 4 days/nights (mon-tue, tue-wed, wed-thur, thur-fri).

All tips and advice are welcome and greatly appreciated!

Why not just stay and spend the ferry money on a Welsh road trip- some great roads there!!

Do Hoek. It's a pleasant crossing at decent times, you get a good night's sleep, and you don't have to hit the Mfucking25. Also, there's a fab wee BP garage on the first section of dualler that does lovely hot breakfast rolls.

It’s not Clive. Black Betth has started it specifically about his travel arrangements

just spotted that- apologies - I still think he’s better off spending money on hotel nights rather than unnecessary duplicate ferry crossings- lots of things possible in four days!!

Average nightly cost of a Premier Inn ( including meal deal = full breakfast+ 2 course dinner and drink) about £80 so 5 nights = £400 - easy to string together a five day road trip and see more of Britain than travel backwards and forwards needlessly.

That sounds okay, but I will be alone and 4 full days of 'road trips' is a bit much in my opinion. Furthermore if I'd decide to do the Meet with my Speedster ('Black Betty') a stay in the UK for more than a week is not realistic.

I might have been a bit too enthusiastic, because either way the DDK Meet Edition 2 weekend will cost me more than € 2.000 and that's perhaps a bit much...

I am travelling from the West Coast of Ireland and will be away just over three weeks-via Le Mans ( Le Mans Classic) Southern France ( OutClassicLaw) England ( DDK meet) and then back home.
Much of that is solo road trip- very enjoyable in my view!
This is not a rehearsal- you may never get another chance- ask me how I know😇

It doesn't take 6 hours from Dover to Caffeine and Machine!

5 days off peak return Eurotunnel?
