Hi there, I’m looking out for a hero. Well, a guru certainly!
I’m a long time air cooled fan but I’m on a mission to try to locate a car which my 90 year old father bought in 1971. If anyone could help me I would be forever grateful. It’s a long shot but I’m hopeful given an owner might have traced the history with dvla and be able to tie it up.
What I know / have possession of:
* I have a spare key and a gold leaf radio blanking plate for the car in question.
* My father purchased it in 1971 in Aberdeen.
* He is sure it had disc brakes not drum brakes. He is less sure if it was the “inverted” disc brakes.
* it had an electric sunroof. He’s certain of that.
* He appears certain it had a grey leather interior. From looking at cars could the beige if worn be thought of as “grey”? Im not sure but I’m assuming grey for now.
* He says it was a blue a bit like my midnight blue 993. By my estimation, from build sheets that is likely to be Bali blue with grey leather.
* my parents lived in a small town in Scotland called Whitburn from 71 to 74, so my best guess is that it was registered there from 71 to 74.
* in earlier years I’m fairly sure my dad told me it was a “C”.
From reading the spare key doesn’t really help indicate anything(?).
So, my estimation is I’m looking out for a Bali blue 356C with sunroof and grey leather interior, registered in Scotland in the early seventies at least and possibly beforehand.
Any insights or information gratefully received!
Thank you
Andrew
