Castrol R ?

A way off yet but I fancy running my car with R 30 veg' oil. It works great in beetles and smells ace.
Am I simply deluded, Do I need help . Did Goodwood affect me more than I realised (again ) ?
Help me resolve this burning ? issue.

love the smell of Castrol R too !!
Keep a small container of it in the car & drop a little of it onto the exhaust every now & then...
I don't know that I'd use it in a road car - it needs to be changed much more frequently than 'ordinary' oils as it tends to gum up everything...
However, you can buy it from places like Demon Tweeks:

& I'm sure that I've seen it recently in some of the bigger Hafords Superstores.

Used to run all my two-stroke trials bikes on it - just for the smell, because it never was cheap!
I don't think I would run a road car on it because it will gum up rings etc., but perhaps it makes sense on a race engine which gets stripped down regularly. (can't believe I just used the word 'sense' - Porsches and Castrol R have nothing to do with common sense, just emotion)...........

Just don't add it to 'regular' oil! You may as well put sugar in your fuel tank.
I have heard that you should only change to Castrol R after a rebuild anyway because it really doesn't like mixing with other oils.

I think Castrol only supply R40 now but Millers have different viscosities.
The main problem with all of the castor based oils is that they tend to be hygroscopic and will pick up water over time.
Lubricity is good and the ability to maintain viscosity with temperatue used to be better than mineral oils but modern synthetics should be better.
I used to use it in Imp engines but have switched to Valvoline 20/50 Racing Oil with good results.
