He was just 64...

Official statement from the family:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father Chad McQueen,
His remarkable journey as a loving father to us, along with his unwavering commitment to our mother, truly exemplified a life filled with love and dedication. His passion for racing not only highlighted his exceptional talent, but also served as a way to honor his father’s legacy, a testament to the values instilled in him. He passed his passion, knowledge and dedication down to us and we will continue not only his legacy but our grandfathers as well. As a family we need to navigate this difficult time and we kindly ask for privacy as we remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jeanie, Chase, and Madison

From RGruppe forum - Chad was a member (# 917)

“Chad passed last night, from complications related to an earlier injury”

“His '2006 Daytona crash was SO bad, no one figured he'd make it, let alone 18 more years...and they weren't easy...”

“As many of you know from personal experience, Chad embodied his dad?s racing spirit and he had a special love for the RGruppe, Freeman, and Cris as well as many personal friendships among our members.

Many of us had the joy of meeting Chad at dawn at the base of Hwy 74, and doing runs in our cars before the town awoke.

His heart was with the California Boys Republic, Steve?s favorite charity, and those who want to honor him are encouraged to make a charitable donation in his memory.

I?d love to have his family join in Solvang ( RG Treffen 2025) and share memories and stories. Sharing more as we learn.
