Porsche 911 ‘72/‘73 interior trim codes

Post by matteo68 »

Can anyone help me with a one of my super-geeky questions please - about the interior trim codes?

In ‘72/‘73 model years for 911 with leatherette material on both interior trim and seats the codes listed in the original paint colours booklet were:

11 - interior trim: black leatherette, seats: black leatherette with finely perforated inlays
12 - interior trim: black leatherette, seats: black leatherette with perlon cord inlays
13 - interior trim: black leatherette, seats: black leatherette with dog tooth check fabric

However on the fzg (fahrzeug-auftrag) build sheets it lists interior trim (innenausstattung) separately from the seats and shows code 1 for black leatherette trim. For the seats it shows code 111 for black leatherette with finely perforated leatherette inlay (FST.PERF = fienst perfiorert) and code 121 for black leatherette with perlon cord inlay:

It is this last point I am wondering about: does anyone know what the additional 1 signifies on the seats code, or is it a completely different code (perhaps signifiying the type of seat - Recaro or Scheel as well as the material?) as the interior trim code is specified separately?

I’ve figured it out folks!

The third digit (always 1 on these build sheets) is to denote black leatherette seat bolsters as opposed to the inlays. The paint colour & interior trim booklet didn’t refer to this…
