Hi All,

On the Pyrenees trip, we were coughing and tasting burnt oil. The heat exchangers are pretty knackered with rust holes.

Any decent second hands ones about?

Or can you suggest cheapest place to buy new.

Cheers,

Ian

Probably when you were following me :)

Can’t recommend a particular source for heat exchangers, I bought my SSIs from Mecatechnic, but that was in the days before Brexit ruined buying stuff from Europe!

If you are going to all the effort of removing the old ones, dealing with rounded nuts, broken studs etc, then for me (and particularly for a lovely car like yours) new SSIs are the only choice. They add value and more importantly don’t rot again!

On that note … either get a garage to do that job for you or ask Sladey nicely for use of his lift

I did mine upside down on an engine stand, and it was still a heinous task…

If ones from a 2.4 fit and you just want ones that are fairly solid then talk to Angus as he probably still has the ones from my car.
One needed a small bit of welding on the tinware but otherwise they were ok.
From my point of view you could have them for free although Angus may want something for storing them.
Whether you want them or not he would be a good person to contact.

Thanks Guys.

Thanks JB. I'll consider that. However, I might have found some new stainless ones on Ebay at a reasonable price.

Going to get a quote from local specialist (Series 9) to do the horrible task.
