Hello from Devon. 2.7 MFI inbound

Hello from Devon.
I have just paid my first subs, so here we go.
I had a 2.4s and 964 RS back in the 90s.
Both 25k cars….
Earlier this year my wife bought a brand new 992.1 T.
Great car. It got me remembering how much I had loved my Porsches.
I always lusted after a 2.7 RS, but they are so much money now.
Then I happened upon the seemingly inactive 2.7 MFI register.
That got me thinking and I am now buying one.
An Italian car, 45 years with one now deceased owner.
It arrives on the 14th of June.
I’m selling an old Ferrari 250 GTE to finance it, which we have owned for 13 years.
Mixed emotions about that but for where and how I live now, an air cooled 911 just feels right.

Welcome! Coincidentally, my old 1974 MFI Carrera came from Italy, too...

Welcome to DDK, some lovely cars you have. Pics obligatory (even if the Donkey)!

Congrats on what appears to be a great find.

It would be nice to hear how you made a connection to buy the car from the seemingly inactive 2.7 register.

All the best (and a photo when it arrives?)

Regards
Mike

Welcome, there is nothing quite like a 2.7 MFI engine…

The seemingly inactive MFI register is still a good resource. I found a link there for a restoration story thread on DDK.
That’s how I ended up here :)
I emailed the contact address on the register but did’t get a reply.
It last looks to have been updated in 2019.
I was hoping to have a conversation with the owner of the site and see if we could get it up and running again.

Hello Graham,

Ryan from Seattle ran the MFI register but he is 'remodelling' his house at the moment which apparently takes up even more time and money than restoring a classic Porsche (I should know as I am restoring a 1974 MFI myself)

If you want to know anything about the cars you need to get Ryan's book which is a complete reference on them.

I run the register for the cars at Porsche Club GB and also look forward to seeing some photos of you car when you get it.

Guy

Hello Graham,
Good to hear of another 70's car reasonably locally.
There's a lot of old school knowledge about early cars and MFI around in Devon.
Cheers
JW

Hello Guy,
Fortunately a copy of Ryan's book is coming with the car.
I will register it the PCGB.
Along with my wife 992.1 T

JW,
Yes I have started to have good conversations with Williams Crawford who will be looking after the MFI.

I bought my old 74 Carrera from Devon.

It smelled of fish.

I remember! But that was you - the car smelt fine.
