84 JAN - 911 build date?

Hi
My 911 has a first registered date of 31 JAN 84. To be historic tax I need to be build before 1 JAN.
I'm assuming my car was not built in JAN and shipped to the UK, sold and registered all in a month that would be a bit keen!
I hear Porsche can lookup the build date. Do I go to my local dealer? I'd rather not - can i do it online?
Can they just look it up online whilst I am there?
Anyone here been through the process.
