Hi all and thanks for accepting me into the group.
I have owned my 1967 912 for 24 years. I bought it from a guy who imported it into the UK from California. He underestimated how much work was required (sound familiar ?) to bring the car up to scratch and therefore sold on to myself. I have replaced the floor pans, numerous body repairs, rebuilt the cylinder heads, carburettors, brakes steering and suspension, then interior overhaul and full re spray. Am currently replacing the front suspension pan. I have carried out all work myself except the cylinder head rebuild, I am no expert on car restoration rather an enthusiastic learner. I am about to retire from work and will therefore get round all those small jobs I have been putting off for years. Look forward to following the group and contributing where possible.
Mike

Hi Migor,

I'm inly just into East Yorkshire on the south side of the Ouse.

You probably have the same cylinder heads as me. The ones with the air injection ports? Mine were cracked in the usual place, and I had them welded up. Hopefully they have stayed that way!

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I live near Knaresborough, a small village called Arkendale.
Struggling a bit with attaching the photos (file sizes too big., will try again later. I think the problem is what’s known as a PICNIC, Problem In Chair Not In Computer !
Hi Kneeslider- the heads were totally shot when I purchased the car, the valves were badly burned etc so new valves, guides, springs and seals, surprisingly no cracks. I see you have a few bikes, me too, spend more time working on them than riding them ! I have the bike I rode in my youth a 1981 Yamaha RD250LC and the bike I dreamed about in my youth a Honda CB1100RC.
Thanks again.
Mike

Know it well, or at least the fields around it.

I’m up near Bedale so not far. We used to have quite a few active early cars in the area but less so these days.

Photos, either need to upload via Tapatalk app if using your phone or through a third party like Flickr and copy the link
