917 replica in Norway

Post by 911hillclimber »

Magnus Walker goes through a home built 917 made for the roads in Norway.
Interesting car, bit disjointed presentation, but good video imho.

Looks brilliant :)

…but if I’m being picky I’d seal up the gaps in the floor so your feet don’t get wet! Although it’s probably welcome ventilation :)

Yes I enjoyed that.

A British built engine as well. It was Interesting to hear about the level of control that the Norwegian authorities exert over power to weight ratio / performance etc. I bet it was a challenge getting it through their IVA system.

Although it is a one off, I wonder how it compares overall with the ICON Engineering 917.

Sounds like the 300bhp was to get it through the IVA equivalent and it’s actually blowing much much harder than that!

What was it a 3.3 twin turbo with trick bits putting out 300bhp…? not unless it’s got a sock in the inlet!

The engine is very interesting and it was not too clear exactly what is was in the end, a short stroke something with turbo. Maybe.
But, who cares? Lovely thing in general and very usable i guess even with wet feet!
He said he would fit a flat12 if he had the chance. A task close to impossible I would think.

Plenty fast enough for the road and looks dead accurate.
What a great project to do, if only I was 40 again...

I would remove those numbers, detracts from it imho.

The power/weight consideration is equally interesting. Wonder how a twin motor Teslar does?
