nut dropped near spark plug

I was going to change my spark plugs for the new season this weekend, but failed on cylinder 4- just could not get the plug socket on the plug. further investigation with an endoscope showed that I have an M6 nut in the gap between the body of the spark plug and the head. No big deal I thought, got the magnet picker to fish it out. However- the nut seems to be stainless and therefore antimagnetic. Then I took off the valve cover and
covered the entire area around the engine with sheets and got the compressed air gun to try and blow it out- fail, did not move at all. So I am a bit stuck now- Has anybody here had a similar problem and possibly a hint as to how to get the thing out without removing the engine?

welding wire with a small hook formed on the end, ideally TIG rod (which is straight). If you need a good grip, put a bend in the tuther end and grab it with pliers

Try and get a small thin screwdriver in there to try and loosen it, (you may have wedged it down when putting the spark plug socket on it). Then use a chopstick or similar with blutac or dum dum on it to attach to it, or as stated, welding wire, to hook it out.

Thanks all- will try these options and report back what worked!

A thick blob of grease on the end of a screwdriver will often work although dum dum may be better but it is not so readily available as grease

In desperation I've put a bob of superglue on a good diameter of wire, i.e. Coat hanger and glue it to the nut.
Wait or spray a drop of water down the wire to set the glue.
Prey.
Tease it out.
For years
I've used stainless washers on my cars and have these incidences...

If super glue is not your thing (I hate it!) then 5 minute epoxy might be the thing that works.

Double side sticky tape on the end of your magnet

A pick would have that out in no time. Basically a thin screw driver with the end bent at 90 degrees.

3 days has passed, I need to know if the pesky nut has been extracted.

I'M LOSING SLEEP!

Think the OP has glued himself to a length of welding wire wrapped round the lost and is awaiting rescue…

I'm guessing that there is blutac, superglue, magnets, screwdrivers and a stainless nut inside the cylinder by now :P
